Pro Image Sports at Crossgates Mall in Albany, New York is the exclusive retailer for The Albany Empire Arena Football Team. All things Albany Empire sell out in the store almost every week with a large selection of NFL-quality jerseys, New Era sideline caps, t-shirts and unique sweatshirts.
The Arena Football League started just one year ago in 2018 and currently hosts six teams. The Empire now boasts the first spot in the AFL with a 10-2 record and 5-1 home and away record. The Albany fanbase continues to grow and locals have become more involved with the new team and have searched for merchandise within an affordable price range.
Chaz Betts, a franchise owner with Pro Image Sports, saw the potential in working with the new local team and reached out right away to get the exclusive rights to start selling Empire merchandise. It took some work. After an initial phone rejection after from Empire executives, he was able to get them into his store where they eventually agreed to bring the product in. From there, Chaz created the banner designs and started displaying the product.
“This has absolutely helped with sales,” Betts said. “If you have a local team in your area, you should get involved with it.”
Betts has continually shown how successful a franchise can become by finding ways to be creative and collaborate with local organizations.
