CULVER CITY CA- Congratulations to Eddie Varela and Rick Velasquez who have opened their second Pro Image Sports store at the Westfield Culver City in California! Their first store is located at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles.
Eddie and Rick met one another in high school and have remained good friends ever since. One day the two of them started talking about the possibility of owning their own business together. Eddie had 8 years of experience working sports retail at a store in the Westfield Culver City, and that combined with his and Rick’s shared interest for all things sports, made buying a Pro Image Sports franchise the perfect solution.
“We wanted to work for ourselves,” says Eddie. “Be entrepreneurs and do something we love. We both love sports, and owning this business has been a dream come true.”
That said, living the dream has taken time and patience. Rick kept his office day job for the last seven years while Eddie ran the store at Baldwin Hills. It was frustrating for Rick, but they both knew it was the smart play as overhead costs for the two of them at one store could have potentially drowned their dream. The opening of their second location, however, finally gave Rick the opportunity to quit his previous job and focus all his attention on building their business.
“We knew we needed two stores to be free, to be stable,” says Eddie. Rick will run Baldwin Hills location now and Eddie will oversee Culver City.
We at Pro Image Sports couldn’t be more excited for these two and their inspiring work ethic.
“Eddie and Rick have waited five years for this opportunity,” says Ryan Laws, president of Pro Image Sports.” They are grinders. No one works harder than these two. Something I’ve heard them say often is, ‘be phenomenal or be forgotten.’ I know they’ll be phenomenal.”
They have high expectations for Culver City location, and the sales numbers on their opening weekend reinforced why. The location is also where Eddie got his start working in the sports retail world. So it’s also a fitting homecoming! These two are primed and ready. Beast mode is on.
