DES MOINES, IA – For the past 17 years, Paul Shillingstad has had two well performing stores in Valley West Mall in Des Moines. He originally started out with an average sized Pro Image store of 1,900 square feet. Five years later, in 2003, he opened a novelty store as he took over an old Disney Store location next door on a temporary lease. It performed so well he decided to keep it open year-round, and has rolled with the two stores in the same mall ever since.
Today he embarks on a new chapter in one of his most successful malls, by opening a mega Pro Image Sports store of 7,000 sf. He knocked down the wall dividing the two stores, remodeled the entire location and undertook a complete rebranding with the current Pro Image Sports logo and colors. The site of the store is something to behold. It is the Empire State Building of Pro Image Sports, standing as the largest store per square footage in the history of the company.
Paul has developed an avid customer base that he introduced an array of new products over the years, especially novelty items they hadn’t seen. As the years have gone by, his customers have continued to desire new products and a fresh shopping experience, so the unveiling of the Mega Pro Image Sports will undoubtedly blow them away.
Congratulations to Paul for another fine achievement in a storied career, to right hand man Al for helping build and set-up new stores and longtime manager Laura for doing such a fantastic job in Des Moines all these years.
